Web sites

Keywords: Internet, Assembly, Advanced manufacturing technologies

This is the web site of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), it is a well designed site and very easy to navigate. There is a vast amount of information contained under the umbrella of manufacturing. There are a number of really useful links to other web sites all organised under helpful headings, e.g. library here you will find it subdivided into books, market research, statistics etc.

The jobs connection area enables engineers to post their résumés and prospective employers to search for staff. There is also a jobs notice board with many positions available in the US. The SME’s online store contains relevant books, technical papers (available to download as pdfs) and SME gifts available for purchase.

This site is well worth a visit for anyone involved in manufacturing engineering.

This site acts as a portal to many other engineering sites. Its clean design means it is easy to navigate and find companies involved in specific engineering areas. There are a number of sub headings from the main menu, robots, safety, industrial IT, components, systems integrators and companies. Under the robotics sub heading it is further classified into assembly, coating, cleanrooom, covers, cutting, dispensing, handling, plastics, used robots and handling. Under each of these headings the companies involved in that particular area are listed with full descriptions of their activities and products with useful links to their web sites.

This is an uncomplicated site which operates well and is an excellent source of information.
