IDM Electronics announces a significant extension to its H Series, with the introduction of the 18-channel H18 and 24-channel H24 slip rings (see Plate 5).

Renowned for their small size (12.5mm dia.) and flexibility, the H Series units until now were available with up to 12 channels.

With the demand for additional features on cameras, such as zoom, pan, tilt, focus and magnification, camera and pedestal manufacturers are demanding extra channels. The H18 and H24 are designed to fill the current needs and provide 18 or 24 rings each rated at 2 Amps in an industry-standard 22mm diameter case. This makes them easily interchangeable with other units.

They retain the other well-liked features of the present H Series, including ball bearings, gold brushes and gold plated rings and the ability to transmit high quality video.

Also introduced are the H18 PLUS and H24 PLUS ranges, that each have four extra 6 Amp channels to cover the requirements for heating, de-misting, motor drives, infra-red lighting and other high current applications. This unique feature will allow engineers to avoid the need for parallel channels and also allow greater flexibility.

In line with normal IDM policy, the integrated design means that all the H Series slip rings can be supplied to a customer's exact configuration and connection requirements, while retaining the benefits associated with mass production. For volume applications, the H Series can be configured to accommodate most combinations up to 36 signal or 12 power channels. By addressing the specific needs of the application, the customer can achieve significant savings over less flexible competitive units.
