Guest editorial
The International Workshop on Security in Information Systems is a yearly event organized by Dr Eduardo Fernández-Medina, mainly interested in high quality and innovative research papers from different fields related to the most recent developments in information systems security. This year, I have had the chance to collaborate with Eduardo in its organization, and was pleased to undertake leading the publication of a selection of the best works of WOSIS ’06 in Internal Research. I want to thank Dr David G. Schwartz for his cooperation and guidance from the beginning of this project. The workshop collected papers related to security in information systems with a special emphasis on the internet environment. The publication of the selected best papers in this prestigious journal, along with the other WOSIS achievements that include a renowned Program Committee and Keynote Speaker, has made the success of the fourth edition of WOSIS, held in Paphos, Cyprus, a reality.
Regarding the review process, it was especially complex due to the excellence of submissions, and was developed in two phases. First, was a selection of papers for the workshop, and this was followed by a second review process for the journal. Discussions that emerged during presentation of each paper at the workshop were also considered for extensions and revisions of the selected works.
To conclude, the WOSIS ’06 papers appearing in this issue have been selected for their technical quality, innovation, and diversity within the area. I hope you enjoy their reading.
