Note from the publisher

The editor of Internet Research would like to thank all the reviewers for their hard work over the last year.

During these last 12 months there have been many changes at Emerald that have proved beneficial to our readers, our authors and our editors:

  • We have improved and expanded our author resources Web site (www.emeraldinsight.com/literaticlub), including detailing useful information on how to get published, copyright rights, calls for papers, Literati Awards, etc. A new section – "Conference central" – has steadily grown throughout the year into a one-stop-shop to help find the most relevant conference to attend, it lists any Emerald attendees and features some conference reviews.

  • Our Research Register (www.emeraldinsight.com/researchregister/index.htm) also continues to grow. This is an online forum for the circulation of pre-publication information – a chance to register and broadcast current research activities. Through this, authors and editors can gain exposure to potential collaborators and gain information on the cutting edge of current research.

  • Some editors and managing editors have been running author workshops, both at International conferences and by invitation to university departments. These workshops provide an insight into the world of scholarly publishing and give advice to new authors on how to convert their research findings into a piece of publishable work. If you feel that this service would be of use to your department or conference, then please contact the Literati department.

The online usage statistic summary powered by Catchword is a good indication of how the journal is progressing throughout the year. The journal has had over 296,000 database hits from August 2001 to August 2002. The most active countries were the UK, Australia, the USA and Malaysia. The statistics also show the most popular article on the database (that which has been most accessed during the last year). This was: "An analytical framework for evaluating e-commerce business models and strategies", Chung-Shing, L., Vol. 11 No. 4, pp. 349-59.

These figures clearly show that the journal continues to go from strength to strength.

Some papers that will appear in Vol. 13 are:

  • Cho, S., Byun, L.-H. and Sung, M., "The impact of high-speed Internet on user behavior – a Korean case study".

  • Lee, P.Y., Hui, S.C. and Fong, A.M.,"A structural and content-based analysis for Web filtering".

  • Fiore, A.M., "Influence of image interactivity on approach responses toward on online retailer".

  • Yua, H.-F., Chenb, Y.-M., Wanga, S.-Y. and Tsenga, L.-M., "Improving Internet archive service through proxy cache".

  • Shaw, T., "Web site design benchmarking within industry groups".

  • del Águila, A.R., Padilla, A., Serarols, C. and Veciana, J.M., Universitat, "Digital economy and management in Spain".

Issue No 2 of Volume 13 will be a special issue based on the papers from the International Networking Conference held in Plymouth in July 2002.
