NASURF conference a big success

The NASURF conference held on 23 November 1999 at DERA Farnborough has been described as its best conference yet.
Over 70 delegates attended from all sections of the industry, including many small engineering companies and delegates from as far away as Bulgaria.
The speakers were drawn from a wide range of industry and academia, covering many surface engineering topics. Especially well received was the talk by Russell House, who gave an overview of the problems encountered by the industry and the after lunch tour of DERA research facilities.
NASURF Manager Nick Farmilo commented, "The smooth running of the event and good attendance are testament to the hard work and organisation of the NASURF staff. These same qualities are carrying us forward in delivering new benefits to the industry as we develop our marketing and R&D Services".
Future plans for NASURF include marketing many of its members' services at exhibitions around the UK, and further advancement of the initiative to involve small and medium scale enterprises in the EU CRAFT scheme, which provides funds for developing new products and technologies.
