New range of shaft sleeves from Glacier
New range of shaft sleeves from Glacier
Glacier Industrial Bearings has introduced a new range of shaft sleeves. Equally suitable for retrofit during maintenance work and new equipment, the Glacier WH sleeves provide an inexpensive working surface for their standard range of plain bearings.
The steel sleeves are treated to provide a hardened, wear-resistant surface with a ground finish ideal for plain bearings and seals. Available from 25mm to 150mm diameters in various lengths, they are pre-finished and do not require machining after press fitting onto the turned shaft.
Glacier WH sleeves provide an economical method of re-covering worn shafts. The damaged shaft journal is machined and the sleeve installed by press or shrink fitting. For new equipment, WH sleeves provide the optimum surface finish and hardness, particularly for complex shafts where local treatment of the bearing journal may be difficult. The wear resistant properties of the sleeves are also proving very useful by controlling wear at known wear points in a variety of equipment.

Glacier has issued a handbook giving full details of the standard range of WH sleeves. This is available from Glacier Bearings, Riccarton, Kilmarnock KA1 3NA, Scotland, UK. Tel: + 44 (0) 1563 539999.
