Libraries are invited to join the AAU/ARL Japan Journal Access Project. The project is not limited to ARL member institutions, but welcomes those institutions that have an interest in document delivery with Japanese libraries and/or have collections in Japanese studies to contribute to the Union List of Japanese Serials and Newspapers. In 2002 the document delivery component will be expanded.

Nearly 60 Japanese libraries will be able to place photocopy requests via their ILL system (NACSIS ILL) and have those requests received by Japan Project libraries processed via OCLC ILL.

It is hoped that those libraries that have requests for Japanese materials held by Japanese university and governmental libraries will sign up as members of the ARL Japan Project. There is no cost to join the project, only a commitment to be willing to share non-returnables (now) and returnables (eventually).

Please contact Mary Jackson (mary@arl.org) if you have questions or wish to join.
