The British Library Document Supply Centre Urgent Action Service is to become available to OCLC Interlibrary Loan service users. With this service documents will be processed within three hours of receipt and despatched by fax, Ariel, courier or first class mail.
The new service is currently available to a small group of US libraries as a trial. It was expected to be released to all users in April 1999.
''Our Urgent Action Service has been of great benefit to researchers, not only in Europe but worldwide, who require documents within hours rather than days,'' said Malcolm Smith, Director of the British Library, Bibliographic Services and Document Supply. ''We have recently extended working hours to ensure that the service continues to be available during our customers' working day wherever in the world they might be.''
Additional information on the service and pricing is available at: http://www.bl.uk/services/bsds/dsc/urgent.html.
