Recent agreements with the BMJ publishing group, Marcel Dekker, Project HOPE (Health Opportunities for People Everywhere) and the Royal Society of Medicine will increase the medical titles available through the OCLC FirstSearch Electronic Collections Online service.
Electronic Collections Online offers access to a large collection of electronic journal titles, an archiving solution and cross-journal searching. A total of 15 publishers are contracted to provide more than 325 medical titles via the service. For libraries also using the OCLC FirstSearch service, Medline records indexing many of these titles are linked to the Electronic Collections Online full-text articles. In all, over 1,400 journals from 32 publishers are now accessible or scheduled to be available soon through the service.
BMJ, the publishing arm of the British Medical Association, and OCLC will make the BritishMedical Journal available through Electronic Collections Online. They will also distribute 30 of the group's specialist clinical journals, many of which are leading journals in their field.
Project HOPE is an international health education foundation. Established in 1958, it provides health policy research and analysis, training for health care professionals, and consultations in health systems planning and development.
