With this issue, we are ushering in a new regime! John Fernie will be stepping down from his editorial role and Neil Towers will be taking on the mantle as the journal's Editor. Whilst John will be remaining involved in a consultative role, this will be a massive change for the journal. John discusses this in his own words below.
As publisher of the journal, however, I would just like to take this opportunity to recognize John's efforts in the best public forum of all for such a recognition – International Journal of Retail & Distribution Management (IJRDM). As John indicates below, when he took on the Editorship this was a very practice oriented and fairly lightweight publication. IJRDM is now one of the leading scholarly publications in this field and John can take the chief credit for driving forward this development.
A quick look at the current status of the journal shows that almost 2,000 institutions around the world now have access to IJRDMs contents. In 2008, this translated into a total of 317,676 articles downloads. John has passed the Editorship on with the journal in a very healthy state.
With this too, we welcome Neil Towers as the new Editor. Neil is a Senior Lecturer in Supply Chain Management at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland. His contact details are included in the hard copy of the journal and on the journal home-page at: www.emeraldinsight.com/ijrdm.htm
