The growing global middle-class population will come to the UK’s rescue during the next decade by driving demand for exports of high-tech products and financial services, according to the Ernst & Young ITEM club.
Exports will pull the UK back to sustained growth as the country reorients to Brazil, Russia, India and China. Currently just 5 per cent of UK exports go to the BRIC nations but the ITEM club is forecasting annual growth in exports to these countries of over 10 per cent per annum.
