India has been refining its employment data collection and now has a much clearer picture of where jobs are and how they are changing. Manufacturing output has been increasing significantly over the last few years, yet the number of jobs has increased only marginally.

Of course, this boost to the economy has almost certainly created jobs in the service sector but this indirect connection is difficult to assess.
