New Productivity Centre
The National Productivity Centre (NPC) was opened recently by An Taoiseach, Bertie Ahearn at the Irish Management Institute. The €2 million centre is a collaboration between the Irish Management Institute (IMI) and Microsoft and has been developed to allow CEOs, secretary generals and their senior management teams to understand how they can address their competitiveness challenges by improving overall levels of productivity.
Speaking at the launch Tom McCarthy, CEO, IMI, said that improvements in management have been seen to have effects as significant as increases in workforce and capital investment. McCarthy said that the NPC was the first step in translating such findings into real practices for organisations to allow them to innovate and gain competitive advantage. McCarthy said that the centre would allow organisations to create value through innovation, recognising that “the firms that continue to lead are those that continually look for differentiation”.
