UK has short-term rise

UK productivity has been climbing to its highest rate for two years while the output of the service industry grew by 0.9 per cent, official data reveals. In the three months to October 2006, output per worker rose by 2.3 per cent compared with the same period a year ago, up from 1.9 per cent in the previous quarter and the highest rate of increase since the second quarter of 2004, according to the Office for National Statistics.
