Top performing factories

A study of 106 top performing factories in the US, sponsored by Rockwell Automation, has found that regardless of size, industry or process type, plants using manufacturing execution systems (MES) outperformed and improved faster than those not using MES in a number of areas. These areas include productivity, the ability to improve on specific cost and customer service measures, and profitability, which can be improved by up to 400 per cent over a three-year period. Productivity growth ranged from 70 per cent to as much as 600 per cent for plants using MES. Plants with MES also achieved a 57 per cent reduction in energy costs.
