Scottish Water recently completed a project to replace three legacy systems with one combined corporate intranet.

When the utility was formed by the merger of three regional authorities, there were three separate intranets running on different technologies. To combine these into one integrated site, a decision was taken to implement content management software from supplier Merant. This software allows employees to maintain site content independently of the development team, using a standard Web browser.

The development of templates and migration of the old sites took eight weeks, working with Merant and Web agency Starfish, on the technical and design implementation. The resulting intranet now serves as the company’s main internal communications resource.
