Quiet colour

Samsung is entering the colour printer market with the launch of the CLP-500, which it claims is the first colour laser product with standard built-in duplex. The machine, which is aimed at users in small work groups, is claimed to boast the highest print speed in its class at five pages per minute for colour, and 20 pages per minute for mono. It has a 350 sheet capacity as standard that can be increased to 850 sheets by adding the optional 500-sheet tray.

Samsung has developed its “NO-NOIS” (non orbiting noiseless optic imaging system) technology in a bid to ensure office work no longer becomes a headache. The company explains: “With 48dB, the CLP500 has the lowest noise level in its class, making quiet work of even the most demanding print job”.

Powered by a 166Mhz processor, the new machine also offers a 64MB memory as standard, and 1,200dpi resolution printing. The printer is available in two configurations – the CLP-500, offering a USB two-port, and the networkable CLP-500N with 10/100 Base TX as standard.
