It’s a wrap

A company in Yorkshire, UK is pioneering a new process to recycle tonnes of demolition waste for reuse in the construction industry. TK Lynskey Excavations Ltd opening the £1.9 million plant earlier this year in Wath-upon-Dearne, near Rotherham. The new plant takes in construction, demolition and excavation waste that would otherwise be dumped in landfill sites. The material is processed to produce high-quality aggregate that can then be sold for use in new construction projects, thus cutting the need for extraction of primary aggregate. The project was made possible by a £570,000 grant from WRAP, the Waste and Resources Action Programme, a not-for-profit company that promotes sustainable waste management by creating markets for recycled waste products.
