Well, not exactly news. Today, for the first time in many years, I used an old (ancient, even) piece of technology. It reminded me of how good technology can be when it is simple and focused on doing a simple task very well. The technology? A pencil sharpener. It is small, highly functional yet cheap. It does exactly what it sets out to do – nothing more, nothing fancy. It’s the kind of product I would have liked to have invented or developed myself. What higher praise can there be?
