Training, what training?

Last Christmas (a fading memory, now) I bought a new television. Because I’m a bit of a “techie”, I did my research into picture quality, sound quality, etc. and picked on price from a very short shortlist. When I then went to talk to salespeople in retail shops, it was clear that the majority of them were just that – salespeople. They know almost nothing about the products, and certainly not about the technical specifications. In many of the stores, the sets were badly set up, with inadequate signals and they looked pretty awful. Now I’d expect salespeople to get those things right – so calling them salespeople is insulting those who are at least professional in their salesmanship.
