The cheque really is in the post

Regulus, a major US provider of document and remittance processing solutions has teamed up with the US Postal Service to create i-Trace!, an online mail tracking and reporting product. The process begins at Regulus’ document processing sites when a delivery-point, or POSTNET Code, and the unique PLANET Code are placed on a client’s outgoing bill or statement during document creation. The combination of the PLANET code with the existing POSTNET code identifies the transaction as it moves through the entire mail process. Once the mail piece enters the postal system, the USPS provides constant data feeds to Regulus as the item is sorted and read by various mail equipment. The process is complete when the transaction is received at the Regulus remittance location, thus closing the payment loop. i-Trace! not only provides customer-level reporting at every step in the process, but also creates tailored views for specific uses, whether its cash forecasting, statement or payment inquiry, or even confirming if “the check is in the mail!”. i-Trace!(SM) offers near real-time reporting accessible via a Web-based i-View! tool. Also available is a file transmission to the client which allows an organization to automatically integrate tracking data into other customer touch points such as CRM, IVR, or Accounts Receivable systems.
