Whose reality

Whose reality

There has been (for far too long!) a trend in the UK for what is known as "reality TV". This appears to mean that the programmes employ "real" people (i.e. amateurs) instead of actors (i.e. professionals). Quite why this trend has been so all-pervasive and so long-lived defeats me … well, no it does not, I assume it makes for cheap TV. However, what really annoys me is that the programmes are often so contrived and manipulative that it would be impossible to identify what goes on as any form of "reality". I suppose that cheap, manipulative TV is not a very catchy-sounding genre.
