TaiwanNew graduate school courses in healthcare quality improvement
Chang Jung University has a newly established school of Hospital Policy and Management. As of next year (2006), this school will be offering two subjects in quality improvement. The subjects may be taken as electives in the master’s course, or individually. Each subject is two units, requiring two hours per week of classroom attendance. Starting in March, the first subject is “Healthcare quality management” providing an overview of general topics for healthcare quality management. The second subject is “Risk management in healthcare” and will be provided in the following half-year. Its focus will be on incident reporting, root cause analysis (RCA), failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), and current issues on safety in healthcare. For students who pass the course with a result of at least 80 per cent, the result can be counted towards the master’s course offered by the graduate school.
