IJCST in the science citation index SCI®
IJCST has been serving the academic, research and industrial community for 18 years. During this time, I can think of notable landmark periods, where topics of sewability and tailorability, robotics, objective measurement, drape and simulation, and quality and testing have been promoted fulfilling our objectives for connecting consistently the research efforts of communities of researchers, across the world. Our special International Textile and Clothing Research Register has been providing another resource to researchers and industry, cataloguing, promoting, protecting, recognising and disseminating their research efforts.
Year 2006 is another landmark year for IJCST, not because it is now going to be deservedly indexed in the science citation index (SCI®), amongst other prestigious indexing publications such as world textile abstracts, already indexed, but because it is being recognised once again, as a truly international science and technology journal, publishing technical papers that describe, discuss and account novel technologies, results and approaches of rigorous investigations. All our papers are peer-reviewed by an eminent network of the best experts and practitioners in the world. “The science community, at long last has no problem with the word clothing, and we have managed to convince them that clothing can be science”.
As we move to exciting new R&D strategies, IJCST will continue to support the existing research fields, but will also be particularly supporting new areas of development such as:
Smart clothing and any related research to their components, technologies and processes.
High performance clothing and any related research, such as nano coatings and functional treatments. In this sector, we are particularly interested in performance clothing, military and special forces clothing, and anti-terrorist or high-security clothing systems.
Medical clothing and dressings.
Clothing design and aesthetics, incorporating design theories, and any work – scientific or artistic – related to clothing aesthetics.
Whole garment technologies, seamless clothing and 3D garment technologies.
Other textile materials, e.g. furnishing, interiors, emphasising the smart build environment, smart ambience, anti-staining and anti-graffiti textiles for office, home and public area usage.
IJCST will continue to promote the efforts of the community by supporting selected conference proceedings and will also welcome special issues and monograms, and of course continue with our resourceful Textile Research Register.
The refereeing time this year has been reduced to our targeted 3 months from receipt to accepting papers for publication, for 60 percent of our papers.
The publishing team at Emerald and I are looking forward to another successful year, and would like to greet authors, readers and our editorial teams. I would also like to wish Vicky Williams our publishing editor all the very best in her new role, and to thank her for looking after the journal and for supporting IJCST in achieving the prestigious SCI status.
