UK Climate Change Risk Assessment

Article Type: News From: International Journal of Climate Change Strategies and Management, Volume 4, Issue 2

The UK Government has published the “UK Climate Change Risk Assessment”, which is based on a detailed analysis of 100 potential impacts of climate change in the UK (from 700 identified), on the basis of their likelihood, scale of potential consequences and the urgency with which action may need to be taken to address them. It is the first of its kind in the UK and the first in a five-year cycle. The main priorities for adaptation in the UK are set out under the key themes of Agriculture and Forestry; Business, Industries and Services; Health and Wellbeing; Natural Environment; and Buildings and Infrastructure. The Evidence Report is intended to provide information to policy makers on the risks and opportunities from climate change and the vulnerability of the UK.
