E-learning fuels sales training at British Gas

Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 43, Issue 5

British Gas Services – Central Heating Installations is using e-learning to create and deliver its latest on-boarding sales-training program.

In the past, the on-boarding program was completed through a series of instructor-led sessions. Although effective, they were also costly, time-consuming and, with new starters joining at different times and in different locations, inefficient. John Ellis, national sales training and recruitment manager, wanted to solve these problems through e-learning.

Staff from the Content Master division of CM Group worked with the British Gas Services – Central Heating Installations project team to understand the client’s requirements and identify the courses that could be transformed into e-learning. The teams identified a curriculum of more 20 courses, with topics ranging from health and safety to specific product knowledge.

John Ellis said: “We are delighted with the result. We have a highly engaging e-learning program that was developed quickly and effectively and at half the cost we would have expected”.
