Gemserv staff undertake Spooks-style challenges

Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 43, Issue 3

Around 60 staff from the London office of consultancy firm Gemserv undertook a series of espionage-themed challenges during the company’s annual away day.

The employees were arranged into teams and travelled to arranged locations across the city to complete tasks including surveillance, code-breaking and detection. Participants earned “spy dollars” for each completed task and the team with the most cash at the end of the day was declared the winner.

Gemserv brand manager, Jessica Glover, said: “Everyone was buzzing after the day’s activities, trying to figure out which challenges the others had managed to complete and who had won.

“The organizer, Spy Games, designed a day that everyone took seriously but was great fun trying to crack. It was a much more grown-up alternative to the clichéd ‘treasure hunt’; we had to carry out surveillance and defuse a bomb under Tower Bridge.

“There were team-building elements to the day but it was also about having fun and rewarding the hard work of Gemserv staff. It is good to mix up the teams and get different people working together.”
