Article Type: Notes and news From: Industrial and Commercial Training, Volume 40, Issue 4.

RWE npower has received an Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) award for the training the utility company provides for its engineers.

IMechE carried out a detailed assessment of RWE npower's training scheme before judging that it met the highest level of training for graduate engineers.

Engineering graduates at the company follow a four-year training program that allows them to meet challenging levels of expertise leading to Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.

Mike Evans, director of engineering at RWE npower, said:

This award is a true reflection of our commitment to the professional training and development of all our engineers. We have developed a practical and highly focused program that allows our graduates to develop into skilled professionals.

IMechE regional manager Alan King commented at the award presentation:

RWE npower has some tremendous examples of first-class engineering. The recognition of RWE npower's outstanding program shows how strong some of our engineering companies are.
