European organisation for technical and vocational education and training
Some 54 per cent of 16-year-olds in Europe opt for vocational training rather than continuing with academic study, according to the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (Cedefop).
The Cedefop figures also show that 92 per cent of large companies in Europe, 82 per cent of medium-size firms and 56 per cent of small businesses provide continuing vocational training for their workers.
Efvet is a European organisation for technical and vocational education and training. It helps managers and teachers in the sector to develop and disseminate best practice through: an annual European conference; a Web site at www.efvet.org; a newsletter; joint EU projects; its central office in Brussels; and co-operation with Cedefop.
Developed with the support of the European Commission and the European Institute of Education and Social Policy, Efvet collaborates with, but is independent of, all government bodies. It derives its income from membership subscriptions, grants and sponsorship.
