Now in its 15th year, The Personnel Manager's Yearbook, 1999/2000 edition, is the biggest ever to be produced.

The annual, published by AP Information Services, producers of leading industry sector directories and business lists, is produced in association with The Institute of Directors and Investors in People.

Expanded to 1,300 pages, the book contains key contact details of 9,300 top UK companies, and networking information on over 4,000 advisers and suppliers.

A new 30-page section on employment legislation, providing an overview of trends and practices in the UK human resources industry, also incorporates information on the Working Time Directive.

Updated daily throughout the year, changes have been made to 75 per cent of the entries which detail named HR contacts, business activity, turnover, number of employees, personnel software systems, training budget and training providers. Considerable adjustments to editorial content reflect the current interpretation of "people management" and the restructuring and development of HR departments.

The directory now incorporates a sister publication, The Human Resource Management Yearbook, and contains additional sections on payroll bureaux and services, key exhibitions in the sector and useful Websites.

The foreword this year is a challenging piece by Geoff Armstrong, Director General of the Institute of Personnel and Development. Talking of the dramatic changes which have taken place within people management, he says: "The way we recruit, develop, motivate, organize and secure the willing contribution of the people who work with us at all levels becomes the primary vehicle through which business success is achieved".

Also new to the book is an extract from The Report on Jobs, produced by NTC Research in association with FRES and the Guardian.

The Personnel Manager's Yearbook costs £89.50 and is available from AP Information Services, Roman House, 296 Golders Green Road, London NW11 9PZ. Tel: 0181 455 4550; Fax: 0181 455 6381; e-mail: personnel@ap-info.co.uk
