Presents a case study, based on DHL Supply Chain, a logistics provider and a division of the Deutsche Post DHL Group, describing the company’s commitment to quality as a means of improving the consistency of its services throughout its global operations. Explains that the company has introduced a range of measures designed to embed quality in all its processes, notably through its Path to Quality (PtQ) program, which was introduced by DSC in 2010 as a quality-management system to address the inconsistencies that emerged through operating its logistics system across different locations globally. Records that the PtQ program provides: self-assessment; simplicity of process; consistency; sustainability; and transparency. Describes the 14 elements of PtQ, encompassing: policy, objectives and manual; customer management; resources and training; standard operating procedure; document management; responsibility and authority; internal communication; infrastructure and work environment; supplier management; CAPA (corrective/preventive action); internal assessment; performance management; management review; and continuous improvement. Illustrates the points made with brief case studies of the application of DHL’s PtQ approach at companies in the Philippines and Saudi Arabia. ISSN: 1352-8769 Reference: 40AT580
