Purpose – Explains how BT (UK telecommunications firm) and the Co-operative Group (UK retail and services group) are promoting religious diversity and inclusion in the workplace. Design/methodology/approach – Describes the approach taken at BT and the Co-operative Group in detail, setting out the measures taken to promote religious diversity and inclusion both for employees and customers. Identifies the benefits that both organizations have gained from tackling the issues, including business benefits. Findings – Underlines that tackling religious discrimination and promoting inclusion is not only an ethical and moral imperative but will also improve organizational performance. Practical implications – Gives sufficient detail for other organizations to copy these initiatives.
