Whats on the web
Coa Solutions is a company whose main consideration is the link between finance and people, and they provide software that could enhance the relationship between the two. Most major industry sectors are covered on the site, with information provided regarding what is on offer for each one. The human resources section of the site is under a link on the home page entitled “People Analysis”, although the whole site is relevant to HR to a greater or lesser extent. The site is attractively designed and very user-friendly, combining plenty of information about what one can expect from the company with good graphics. The onsite download center contains white papers, case studies and brochures concerning the ways in which the product may benefit ones business along with other more general issues. If a company is looking for software solutions to aid their human resource management then this site could be well worth checking out.
In the market
A well-presented and professional layout forms the basis of the site, though parts of it are very slow to load. A general overview is given of what the company itself has to offer, along with an industry overview and news. Navigation around the site is nice and simple, with pleasing aesthetics. White papers and research are available for download; registration is required to take advantage of this facility. Registration also gives the opportunity to receive their newsletter, although past ones can be viewed in the archives without the need for this. A glossary of terms is a useful feature and there are some fairly succinct pieces amongst the blogs.
A distance HR support service is what the HR department offers. They provide a telephone advice service with back up if an employee takes you, as an employer, to a tribunal. The site gives comprehensive listings of the areas with which HR department can advise and covers health and safety, dismissals, employee relations and absence management amongst other things. These listings are separated into specific regional services, some of which seem to be better than others. Following the “news” link leads to some short but sweet pieces of information about topical HR issues that are hitting the headlines. Additionally the company offers a free employee contract and employee handbook “health-check”, which could be a good way to find out how the company works without first having to sign up for the entire service. The site itself is not overly exciting, although at least it is easy to work ones way around it.
This website seems to be almost solely focused on providing information about the services the company itself offers, so is not really worth looking at if one is searching for generic information and hints. However, the information available is certainly worth a look to those who are considering getting an outside company to improve their human resources. Each of the various areas that the company covers is described in some depth, given in refreshingly plain English. Areas covered include staff training in a large variety of areas, legal assessment and an advice center service. One of the best links to follow is the HR Resources one that leads to the only section on the site giving general information. This includes jargon explanations, FAQ’s and press releases. Also under this section is information about the free seminars that the company gives to enable prospective clients to meet the team.
A glut of information
If anything this site contains too much information and one may get a little confused about which would be the best product for them. The services offered by Profiles International and the rationale behind these services are explained throughout the site. For the main part the focus is on the many different assessment solutions that the company can provide to assess current and potential employees. With offices worldwide and some high profile previous clients this company would certainly appear to offer a good service. Demos and reports on each of the assessments can be requested; the issues that with these can help are listed. Also on the site are articles, research reports, podcasts and calculators. Overall this site offers a nice mix of information about the company itself along with other features and pieces of HR news. The layout is quite user friendly; the aesthetics could however do with a bit of an overhaul.
“Welcome new employees to your company with office toys. New hires need to understand that they made the right choice in coming to work with you. Ease their minds by proving you encourage a creative and fun work environment.” Truly. Ricky Gervais could not make it up. For more information see www.officeplayground.com/hrideas.html
