Article Type: Editorial From: Gender in Management: An International Journal, Volume 25, Issue 1

It with great pleasure that I welcome you to the 25th anniversary volume of the journal, which is going be one of our best volumes to date. The forthcoming issues will contain not only the usual high quality cutting edge papers but also will be punctuated with invited papers from leading academics, reflective pieces from the authors of some of the most popular papers (in terms of downloads) from the last ten years, a special issue on identity by Ruth Simpson and Patricia Lewis, and updated guidelines on publishing qualitative research by Sharon Mavin and Savita Kumra. This will be completed by a celebration party at the 2010 British Academy of Management Conference, to which you are all cordially invited.

However, as with all good things there is a downside and after ten years as Editor I will be standing down at the end of this 25th anniversary year. Over that period, the journal has developed significantly with the support of Emerald (and specifically Nancy Rolph), the Editorial Boards, our contributors and our readers. However, I feel that the time has come to take the journal on a new journey of development and this is an ideal time for someone with new ideas, energy and drive to take over the helm. This change in editorship will also coincide with a change in the editorial structure of the journal, which will move from a single editor structure to one which has a senior editor and four associate editors. This new structure will allow the journal to grow and provide a strong supportive working environment for the editorial team. I am delighted that I will continue to be involved with the journal in my new role as associate editor, which will give a sense of continuity and support for the incoming editor and the other three associate editors. The new editor and editorial assistant appointments will be announced officially in the final issue of this volume.

Finally, I would like to thank in advance the Editorial Boards and past authors for their support in making this 25th volume of Gender in Management: An International Journal the best volume ever.
