The winners of the prestigious 2000 Panel Builder of the Year Awards, sponsored by Cutler-Hammer, have been announced. Leading north-east control panel builder Don Controls Limited of Leeds picked up the award in the Small Business category, while Allenwest Electrical of Brighton was voted Panel Builder of the Year in the Medium Business category. Northern Ireland's E&I Engineering was the winner in the Large Business category, with all three companies being recognised for best practice in the panel building industry.

Now in their eighth year, the Panel Builder of the Year Awards acknowledge panel building excellence in the electrical industry, rewarding excellence in quality assurance, customer service, design, health and safety and staff training. The winners were presented with their trophies at the Electrical Products Awards Presentations and Gala Dinner, held at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.

Richard Foster, managing director of Cutler-Hammer, explains the importance of supporting the Panel Builder of the Year Awards: "Cutler-Hammer, as an industry leader, is committed to raising standards for quality. Sponsoring the Panel Builder of the Year Award again in 2000 shows our support for companies that have demonstrated excellence, benefiting both the industry and its customers. We are delighted that the high standards of Allenwest Electrical, Don Controls, and E&I Engineering have been recognised, and feel confident that they will continue to maintain and develop industry best practice in the future."

Cutler-Hammer has been associated with the Panel Builder of the Year Awards – run in association with leading trade magazine Panel Building – since its inception, and sponsors the awards to promote panel building excellence. The awards are judged independently by a cross-section of representatives from across the industry and its markets – including Thames Water, Pfizer, ASTA, Rendell Engineering, NQA, and WF Electrical – to ensure that all the aspects that make a high quality panel builder are fully considered.

Award winners were presented with a crystal trophy and certificate, and free participation on an ASTA Certification Services or Institute of Electrical Engineering training course.
