Training for better integrated building services

Keywords Training, Building industry

A new training centre providing courses on intelligent buildings and integrated building services was opened at BRE's Watford site on 15 May 2000. The centre is the outcome of an agreement reached by BRE to supply the European Installation Bus Association (EIBA) with training courses and support for EIB applications.

These will include:

  • technical training courses on EIB systems;

  • technical appreciation courses on EIB;

  • consultancy on electric lighting, daylighting and visual ergonomics;

  • advice on indoor climate and control systems;

  • guidance on fire, safety and security systems; and

  • resource management.

EIBA and BRE, with support from leading electrical manufacturers, including ABB, Jung and Siemens (who are EIBA members), are working to ensure that any building service systems can be optimally controlled using the EIB system, delivering business, productivity and environmental benefits.

The new training centre is the first major step towards this goal. Its range of courses and enhanced services will provide comprehensive training and support for EIB customers, including construction clients, consultants, contractors and end-users.
