Power protection specialist, PK Electronics, has confirmed full year 2000 compliance for its range of uninterruptible power supply (UPS) products purchased after December 1997.

This statement follows the general concern among users of telephony, computer and general electrical systems as to whether or not their UPS would be fully functional on 1 January 2000.

In a statement to customers, global product manager, Kevin Friel, announces, "We can confirm full compliance in respect of date data interfaces, formulae and algorithms, date data century recognition and calculations that accommodate for century date codes.

"There is still an enormous concern in the marketplace about Y2K compliance", continued Alan Denny, managing director at PK Electronics, "and, of course, any product which has a date value is potentially affected. Manufacturers are still testing systems at this late stage and users are left with the massive task of ensuring all of their existing hardware and software will be compliant."

PK Electronics product range includes:

  • the US9000 series of modular, N+I parallel redundant UPSs. This includes the award-winning US9001 online system, and the line-interactive US9003;

  • the BlackoutBuster, the world's smallest line-interactive 50OVA desktop system

PK Electronics is an international, independently-owned corporation specialising in the development of leading edge power protection solutions. It was founded in Malaysia in 1982, and has offices in Scottsdale, USA and near Heathrow, UK as well as a manufacturing plant in Malaysia and logistics plant in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
