The Design Build Foundation (DBF) held its second annual conference on 21 October at BAFTA, London, Wl. The conference theme was "Building better by design" and keynote speakers included Peter Kilfoyle MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Defence, Marco Goldschmied, President RIBA and Richard Noble, Farnborough-Aircraft.Com and Thrust SSC Projects.
The conference explored the importance of design on customers and how the constituent parts of the industry are dealing with the entire design issue, drawing on industry expertise from influential practitioners in the field and case studies - the Millennium Dome and the Stephen Joseph Theatre, Scarborough. It will also look outside the industry to see what lessons can be learned. In particular, Richard Noble who has brought many design, supply and manufacturing skills to bear in actually achieving best in the world status with his Thrust SSC team, which was the first to go supersonic on land.
