Chesterton recently announced the launch of "Workplace Management", a transformation of its facilities management division into a business resource management organisation. Workplace Management has been created in recognition of the changing working environment it is meeting a need for a more sophisticated approach to facilities management, encompassing all aspects of support services, the management of assets and resources in partnership with the core business activity. Workplace Management is about helping companies achieve optimum productivity.

Lionel Prodgers, managing director of Workplace Management, comments, "I believe we are unique in that no one else offers the combination of resource and asset management as an independent service.

"We are building on a proven track record and are the largest independent manager of workplace assets, technologies, support service and change projects in the UK with an annual turnover of £100 million. We have 650 professional and operational staff and 19 offices throughout the UK and currently handle contracts for the management of more than 300 buildings."

Workplace Management will cover three key functions: management; operations; and technical services. Through the combined use of these resources a new level of service will be provided which will include:

  • organisational strategy;

  • whole life cycle project management;

  • physical asset management;

  • facilities management;

  • work space management;

  • task and project management;

  • purchasing and procurement.

Workplace Management will become a plc, wholly owned by the Chesterton Group, which will focus on the facilities management market and in particular occupiers of commercial space.
