The Food Safety Act: A Question of Resources
46
Abstract
The position, with respect to resources, of the Food Safety Act is highlighted insofar as it relates to the statutory defences: extended powers for enforcement officers; statutory codes of practice; the European dimension. Local authorities are no longer masters of their own destinies but, for some, carrying out the new statutory duties may be at the expense of other statutory duties.
