Young people back education reform

Young people back education reform

Keywords: Education, Young people, Attitudes, Europe

The EU Socrates education programme and Leonardo vocational-training programme are elitist and should be made more democratic, according to a vote among 629 young people from across Europe.

They came together in the European Parliament building in Strasbourg, France, for the Youth Parliamentary Assembly of the European Union, organized by the European Movement.

The young people also called for education reforms which would introduce equivalent qualifications across Europe and increase emphasis on language teaching. In addition, the young people favoured measures to prevent the exploitation of the young in learning and training systems.
