Stepping on to the Web

Keywords: Internet, Training, Skills

Businesses interested in getting a foot on the ladder of new technology can join WebStep - the Web Skills and Training to Encourage Participation scheme.

The University of Luton, in partnership with Bedford College, has received funding from the European Social Fund to lead the project, supporting small and medium-size firms in Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Peterborough, Norfolk, Suffolk and Essex in the creation of business Web pages and the development of Internet skills to maximize the benefits available from the Web. Dean Johnson, of the University of Luton, said:

There is no cost to participants and the project will provide companies with the employee skills to be able to create their own suite of Web pages, update and amend them when appropriate and be trained in how to use the Internet as an effective business-information resource.

The training is taking place in a series of half-day workshops, which will be offered until May 2000. Further information is available from Dean Johnson on +44 1582 743180.
