Web site for Library and Museum of Freemasonrywww.freemasonry.london.museum

The Library and Museum of Freemasonry has launched a Web site. The site includes online access to the Library and Museum catalogue covering the books, objects and archives housed at Freemasons' Hall. It is one of the first collections to provide this information on a single catalogue covering all three types of collection.

The site also includes information about the latest news, events and exhibitions at the Library and Museum and about the tours of Freemasons' Hall, brief introductions to the library, museum and archive collections, details of genealogical searches which can be undertaken, answers to some frequently asked questions, and details of the shop.

Diane Clements, director of the Library and Museum of Freemasonry, commented: "We wanted users of our Web site to have online access to our catalogues. The main library catalogue, including our important collection of books from the eighteenth century, has been computerized, and from the museum collection we are currently cataloguing our substantial collection of Masonic 'jewels', each of which includes a digital image. So far, from the archives we have catalogued correspondence between 1750 and 1820 and the returns submitted by the Antients and Moderns lodges prior to the Union".

The site, which was designed by Cyberpoint, uses the cataloguing software Q Series from EOS International.
