A distinguished international consultant and editorial advisory board member of the European Business Review passed away this year from prostate cancer. Dr Farid Elashmawi not only published in our and other journals, but also he was author of two highly regarded books, Multicultural Management 2000 (2nd ed., 1998) and Competing Globally (2001). Both volumes are part of the classic Managing Cultural Differences Series published by Butterworth-Heinemann of Oxford, UK. Farid’s seminars and writing focused upon cultural insights and skills that ensure business and negotiation achievement.
Dr Elashmawi was president of Global Success in San Jose, California and was a much sought speaker at executive and management conferences word-wide.
Farid’s global consulting practice with multinational corporations extended from Asia and the USA to Europe and the Middle East. Born in Egypt, his graduate studies were in the USA where he received a PhD in nuclear engineering. Known to colleagues for his kindness, compassion, Islamic faith, and professionalism, the EBR staff and editorial board extend sincere condolences to his wife, Fatima and her family.
