Abstract

Mechanisation of coal handling can cut costs in distributors' yards by reducing man hours per ton and speeding the turn‐round of vehicles. In addition, workers are subjected to less fatigue and discomfort from dust and with increased output are able to earn more. This “Time and Motion Study” feature draws attention to what is probably the most up‐to‐date coal yard in Britain.
