AB  - In the debate over a suitable response to global economic competition, the United States has largely confined itself to two options—a full‐scale, MITI‐like industrial policy or a continuation of the current entrepreneurial free‐for‐all. While Washington has been paralyzed for years as the ideologues kick solutions back and forth between these two poles, industry has discovered a middle ground: strategic investing.
