Abstract

The genius of the French people is many sided, and among its varied and scintillating facets is the ability always to frame an apt phrase. Perhaps it is because so few Frenchmen can speak two languages that they have attained such skill in their own. «Tout comprendre, c'est tout pardonner» is an aphorism that bores deep into the heart of present‐day international relations.
