The main discussion centred on the Ritchie/Crouch Report and examined some of the ideas in more detail, in particular focusing on the ten dimensions of the competitiveness of a destination country considered in that Report. All members of the working group were asked to assess the relative importance of the various dimensions by carrying out a series of paired comparisons for all possible alternatives, e.g. are destination deterrents or marketing efforts more important in terms of the impact on competitiveness? The derived ranking of factors was as shown in table 1.
