Abstract

More and more middle managers are seeking the collective strength of white collar unions as they see their pay outstripped by inflation and jobs put at risk by industrial retrenchment. Now, with impending legislation posing another threat to their status, the lure of the unions is likely to become even stronger. Report by John Bingham.
