An unconventional approach
Abstract
The average businessman taking part in an international conference spends about £20 a day—four or even five times as much as the tourist on holiday in Britain. Estimates put the UK market at £40 million a year and the business is growing by about 18% a year, much faster than the growth rate for tourism. And, with tentative figures suggesting that the convention industry's growth rate will accelerate by 25% between now and the early 1980s, competition in the trade is hotting up no end.
